About the Company

A real plumbing company - not a dispatch service.

Essex County Plumbing and Heating is an independent, owner-led plumbing and heating company based in Newburyport, MA. The company serves homeowners, general contractors, and designers across Essex County and the southern New Hampshire Seacoast on residential plumbing, hydronic heating, gas piping, and new construction work.

The business was built by a master plumber who also has a business degree. That combination - trade precision plus business accountability - shapes how every project runs: clear communication, thorough work, and a crew that shows up and does what it said it would do.

Ian Burt - trade school, business degree, and years in the trade.

Ian grew up in the trades. He completed Whittier Technical High School's plumbing program in 2010, then did something most plumbers don't - he went straight to Northern Essex Community College for an Associate's in Business Management in 2012. That training and education shows in how ECPH is run.

What This Actually Means

What a Master Plumber license means for your project.

Most homeowners don't know there are three levels of plumbing license in Massachusetts. That distinction matters a lot when someone is cutting into the pipes behind your walls.

When you hire Essex County Plumbing and Heating, the Master Plumber license is what covers the project - the legal authority to design the system, pull the permits, and stand behind the finished work. That's not just a credential on the wall. It's accountability.

The Crew

A tight-knit crew. Not a call center.

Essex County Plumbing and Heating is a five-person crew based out of Newburyport, owner-led and built for work across Essex County and the southern New Hampshire Seacoast. This isn't a dispatch company sending whoever's available. It's a small, local team that works together job after job - and it shows in how the work gets done.

Owner-led Ian sets the standard. The crew is trained to it, and every job is held to the same expectation.
Not a sub, not a franchise The crew you talk to is the crew that shows up. No dispatching to whoever's available that day.
Local to the North Shore Based in Newburyport. These guys work this area, know it, and have active relationships with local contractors and inspectors.

What you can expect from every job.

These aren't aspirational values. They're the expectations Ian built the company around and holds the crew to.

Show up when we said we would Scheduling is taken seriously. If something changes, you hear about it before it affects your project.
Work clean Respectful of people's homes. The crew protects surfaces, cleans up at the end of every day, and leaves the space the way they found it.
Communicate the unexpected Walls get opened. Things come up. The crew documents what they find and communicates it clearly before moving forward.
Quality work that lasts The standard is work done right the first time and built to last.
